"We have an ethical code that is very precise," Gérard Payen, a senior Suez executive, told ICIJ. “Look at our records around the world and you will find that our track record is very good in fact. Other businesses are worse than ours.”

their precise ethical code is a wrinkled sheet of paper w/ “KILL EVERYONE TAKE THIER MONEY” scrawled on it in crayon. they have quite the track record of following this ethical code

water privatization is becoming a huge issue in the US like especially in the rural southwest rich fuckers in arizona nevada etc are hoarding all the water and making it more and more expensive and ppl living in poor rural areas are suffering the consequences thru both the direct cost of water and the way that cost of water is reflected in the rise of food prices

zoomwitch:

remember that one time there was a james bond movie where the villains evil scheme was water privization and the fictional holywood JAMES FUCKING BOND VILLAIN plot wasnt even as evil as the real world plot it was based on

the imf and the world bank crack open these countries by coercing their governments into privatizing their water supplies by making loans conditional on it, and then these giant fucking corporations invade under the disguise of subsidiaries, they cut people off from water who can’t afford to pay which leads to cholera outbreaks when they have to use tainted water, and then if they don’t turn a profit in like 3 years they pull out in a huff and claim the government owes them ruinous reimbursement for their future profits, and it’s happening everywhere. these water utilities aren’t just buying up public utilities in the global south, they’ve bought up utility works in america and canada, too. the trap is poised to spring any second now and we need to fucking destroy them before they destroy us

i say “these giant fucking corporations” but i want to be clear: it’s france’s GDF SUEZ, Suez Environnement, and Vivendi Environnement, and it’s england’s Thames Water and their german owners RWE AG. the smaller players, but no less of a threat in the long run, are Saur (france), United Utilities (england), and Bechtel (us)

these are the enemy. they are quite possibly the corporations most opposed to all life on this planet. turn their names into a curse, kill them all.

At its forum at The Hague in March 2000, the [World Water Commission] issued a policy statement that said water management was the main problem facing mankind and the solution was to treat water like any other commodity and open its management to free market competition.

"y’see, it’s a solution, because then there will be no more water and we’ll all be dead. no more problem!"

capitalism will end 1 day and all the evil men who perpetuate its existence will fall into irrelevancy and death but i would like it to happen sooner rather than later
